Florals for baby girl’s nursery are the definition of timeless and whimsical ✨ I shared the grown-up rooms I see my Spring Flowers collection in, but a baby girl’s nursery deserved it’s own post. I was in a flow state when I painted these flowers. The details, the shapes, the perfect shade of green. I stopped thinking and, in a sort of out of body experience, watched these appear on the paper. I just had to trust myself, to let go.

These are the perfect mix of classy and whimsy, timeless and relaxed. That’s what I always want to bring to my paintings. I want my art to fit all of the seasons, all of the stages of life, and whatever the days may bring to your home. I hope that it brings you a little piece of joy when you stop to see it, just like those spring flowers.

My birthday is in early June, and even though it is technically still spring, I’ve always considered myself a summer baby. As a kid I wasn’t crazy about the timing, but I’ve grown to love when it falls - it’s usually quite warm but the oppressive humidity hasn’t settled over the midwest yet. It’s the perfect patio weather birthday. The month of June holds so much magic for me, sweet reminders of my grandparents and that first taste of summer break, pool days and family vacation.

By June, the spring flowers have started to fade away and the summer blooms are arriving. It’s the perfect time to capture their little bits of magic to enjoy all year long.

I actually didn’t almost forget, I just believed that I didn’t. I thought my lot in life was to sit on the sidelines, watch others chase their dreams, get to do the things they wanted. But after a lot of work, I finally realized that I do in fact have free will. That there’s really nothing to lose, and living with the regret of not trying would be far more painful than putting myself out there.

So I started painting again, more seriously than ever before, and on a whim decided to share it. Lately I’ve been feeling like maybe I jumped too fast and like maybe I’m not actually good enough to be doing this. (I think that’s normal for artists, please tell me that’s normal!). But I keep reminding myself that if nothing ever comes from sharing my art, living this way is already a 10/10—I’m exhausted, pulled in even more directions, doing what I love and my kids are seeing me do it. It’s everything. It’s the whole point.

I love painting. I love painting art that feels both timeless and a little whimsical, something a little traditional, but a little eclectic. Lately that’s mostly botanicals (which is what my grandmother painted too!) and other bits of ordinary life that feel like magic. I hope that you want to hang them in your home and feel like they make your home happier, more fun, more you. But if not, they make my home that feel way and that’s pretty cool too.

One of my favorite things in New Orleans is the tropical plants peeking over fences. There’s just something about catching those bright leaves leaning into view that gets me everytime.
