Brittni Strickland Art

BIO

Brittni Strickland is a Kansas City-based artist creating fine art for whimsical, timeless interiors. She works primarily with acrylics on canvas and watercolor paper.

Through soft movement and layered color, Brittni creates work with relaxed grace and elegance, and a touch of whimsy—art that lives in the balance between classic and grounded, yet alive with color, play and joy.

Raised in a family of artists, Brittni grew up surrounded by a wide range of influences—from florals and Western scapes to Van Gogh, Monet, and paintings hung in local coffee shops. She still carries this with her and now realizes this is the seed for all of her work and shaped how Brittni sees art now—as something meant to feel both beautiful and lived-in, accessible yet enduring.

Brittni currently resides in the Kansas City area (originally from Missouri, she now lives just across the state line) with her husband, two kids and rescue dog, Buttercup. It’s here on the edge of where Western prairies meet city life and in her time spent in New Orleans that she finds inspiration from the quiet magic of everyday moments, like the rolling grasses of the Flint Hills, the arrival of the tulips and irises in spring, the surprise of vibrant green leaves spilling over New Orleanian fences.

STATEMENT FROM BRITTNI

Hi, welcome. I’m Brittni and I’m so happy you are here.

I painted sporadically over the years, thought it wasn’t for me or that I wasn’t good enough. I let my self-doubt lead, tell me that I didn’t deserve what I wanted, but I finally decided to

just go for it.

I love to paint abstracts with wild, sweeping gestures, infused with emotion, but I am typically drawn to the quiet magic of ordinary things. Stunning botanicals, fruits, vegetables and colorful birds. I am also finding that my time spent in New Orleans, where lush untamed greenery and vibrant textures captured my attention, continues to find its way into my work.

I love creating art that feels timeless, classic and relaxed, never precious, and that’s colorful, maybe unexpected, lived in, fun. Like you would find it hanging in an old beach bungalow with a bowl of limes by the bar, vibey records playing and cocktails flowing.

I hope that you find something you like, something you want to hang in your home, or something that just feels like your vibe. But if you don’t, that’s ok, too.

I’ll still be over here painting and sharing my work. Whether you stay for a look around or continue on, thank you for stopping by.
